Drug-taking has increased among Iraq's unemployed youth
Baghdad - Jaafar Al Nasrawi

Drug-taking has increased among Iraq's unemployed youth Iraqi Women and Children Affairs organisation has claimed that smoking drugs has increased among young girls. The group stated that the behaviour has spread during school, college and shared housing.
Head of the organisation, Mona Al Hilaly, said in a press statement: "We have noted several cases of groups of young people smoking drugs, especially girls. The findings are sensitive and unacceptable in Iraqi culture, which makes them difficult to track.”
The group also monitored security procedures and practices and are continuing to observe cafes, tourist and entertainment places that conceal drugs in shisha.
Al Hilaly has urged the local authorities and security to investigate the distribution of drugs, calling for the use of undercover detectives to eliminate it.
Al Hilaly attributed the spread of this phenomenon to unemployment, especially among the young graduates and poverty, as well as the lack of drug awareness campaigns.
