Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, has valued the developments related to the implementation of the humanitarian projects between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, especially in relation to providing humanitarian support to the people affected by the Syrian crisis.
Welcoming a delegation from the Houses of Commons and Lords, headed by Alistair Burt, member of the House of Commons, in her office yesterday at the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) in Abu Dhabi, she emphasised that the historic relationships between the two countries are very distinctive, deep-rooted and contribute to enhancing the partnership and joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly the joint efforts exerted to find solutions for the international development and humanitarian issues, in addition to exchange views and expertise.
The Houses of Commons and Lords visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation at all levels. The delegation was escorted by Ahmed Al Mansouri, Member of the U.A.E. Federal National Council.
During the meeting, Lubna Al Qasimi emphasised that the U.A.E. is looking forward to enhancing the bilateral mutual relationships in fields of international development and humanitarian responses, finding solutions to address the constraints of international development and increase the effectiveness of humanitarian organisations, in both countries, in responding to natural and manmade disasters around the world.
She also briefed the visiting delegation on the main efforts exerted by the U.A.E. in supporting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and active coordination with the global community in order to formalise the Development Goals Agenda post 2015.
In addition, the Minister of International Cooperation and Development commended the distinguished role of both the U.A.E. and Great Britain in supporting the humanitarian and international development efforts, and implementing the projects that aim to alleviate the suffering of the affected people in the humanitarian crises.
The delegation from the Houses of Commons and Lords expressed their pleasure at visiting the U.A.E., commending the strong relationships between the two countries and the increasing role of the U.A.E. in the humanitarian and international development arena, in addition to achieving the top position as a foreign aid donor country of the Official Development Assistance/Gross National Income (ODA/GNI) for 2013.
Alistair Burt also valued the advances made by the U.A.E. in the political, culture and social stability scales, which are considered one of the highest worldwide, in addition to the U.A.E.'s success in achieving balance between national development strategies and continuation in supporting international development and responding to global emergencies around the world.
The meeting was attended by Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Under-Secretary for International Development, Ali Mohsen Al Hameli, Assistant Under-Secretary for Support Services, and Rashid Al Teneiji, Director of Communication and International Relations Department.
