Efforts by the international community to protect human cultural heritage from extinction were the focus of discussions during a meeting on Saturday between His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Hailemariam Desalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister is in Abu Dhabi to attend the conference on Safeguarding Endangered Cultural Heritage, which was jointly organised by the UAE and France under the patronage of UNESCO from the 2nd to 3rd December, 2016, in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohammed and the Ethiopian Prime Minister stressed the importance of the UNESCO-backed conference in deciding action plans, issuing recommendations and proposing solutions that could help countries protect and preserve their national treasures. They also recognised the vital role of international organisations in these efforts.
During the meeting, the pair exchanged views on a host of the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.
