President of the Republic Field Marshal Omar al-Bashir has affirmed Sudan's support for the South until comprehensive peace would be achieved and the people of South Sudan enjoy security and tranquility. "We do not want to interfere in the internal affairs of the South Sudan and we will remain present to provide all the support for the implementation of the peace agreement signed by the southern leaders," the president said during a meeting with President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit Friday evening. He stressed that the primary responsibility in implementing the agreement lies with the southern leaders, expressing confidence that all parties that signed the agreement keen to implement it. President Al-Bashir said that his meeting with President Salva Kiir reflected a strong political will to move towards peace and that the previous stage represented a signing stage for charters and that the coming period would be the most important step in the peace process. He added that the two countries were looking forward to a promising future for the benefit of their peoples, as they are rich of natural resources and having qualified human resources able to exploit them to build two states. Meanwhile, President Salva Kiir expressed his country's appreciation to the Sudanese government and people for their efforts in achieving peace and stability in the region, pointing out that Khartoum succeeded in pushing the parties in the state of the south Sudan and convince them to sign the peace agreement in a short time that other countries could not achieve. "When we came to Khartoum, we did not feel like strangers, but in our country. We are determined to complete peace because it is the will of our people. We as political leaders are responsible for implementing this agreement," he said.
