Chairman of National Iraqi Alliance (ANI) Ammar al Hakim stressed on Sunday the importance of activating memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed between Egypt and Iraq in the oil field.

He also called for expanding the role of the Egyptian companies in the investment contracts, especially in connection with developing the infrastructure of oil production and refineries.

The ANi chairman underscored the key role of Egypt in protecting the stability of the region, adding that it is essential to ensure integrity, exchange expertise and coordinate political visions.

During his meeting with visiting Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla and his accompanying delegation, ANi head called for more cooperation with Egypt in the fields of energy, military, services along with water management.

Prospects of cooperation in the field of energy and strategic projects were discussed during the meeting that was attended by Iraqi Minister of Oil Jabbar Ali Husayn al Luaybi and Egyptian Ambassador to Ahmed Darwish.

Iraqi Premier Haydar al Abadi received visiting Egyptian Petroleum Minister on Saturday and affirmed the importance of integration as well as cooperation among Egypt, Iraq and countries in the region.

As Iraq achieves victories in its war against terrorism, its opportunities for joint work rise, the Iraqi prime minister said.
