Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby has headed to Kuwait to join an Arab ministerial delegation that will travel to Baghdad on Sunday.
The delegation will be led by Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
In pre-departure remarks to KUNA, Al-Araby said the visit to Iraq mainly aims to hold talks with Iraqi leaders on how to "reinforce relations and get briefed on the current developments in Iraq" in light of many threats Iraq is facing.
The Arab ministerial delegation will also be apprised of the Iraqi government's needs to address threats, he said.
During their stay in Baghdad, the team members will have intensive meetings with Iraqi President Fuad Masum, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri, Deputy Prime Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, Al-Araby noted.
"All Arab countries, including Iraq, are determined to fight terrorism and have decided to face the many threats posed by terrorist organizations like the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)," he pointed out.
