Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby lauded the Islamic anti-terrorism coalition announced on Tuesday by Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism.

In a statement on Wednesday, Araby expressed the Arab League's support for the coalition that would boost the pan-Arab body's efforts to fight all forms of terrorism.

Confronting terrorism requires rallying all efforts to uproot this serious phenomenon, he added.

Under the coalition, Riyadh will be the joint operations center to coordinate anti-terrorism efforts.

Most of these countries are currently involved in military operations against Daesh since March.

The new coalition is not targeted against Daesh alone but against all terrorist organizations.

It includes 34 countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
