Among the top priority of The Holy Father Pope Francis is to give attitudinal shift from material aspect of human life to compassion, mercy and understanding of each other problem” said Archbishop Angelo Becciu while talking exclusively to The Times about the changes taking place in the Vatican.
While the doctrine will always remain the same for Catholics, The Holy Father stresses the need for a new attitude and emphasis on issues like being more merciful, understand problems of the world and improving dialogue among other religions.
“His Holiness has set the new path which is not to give too much importance to material things but use the power of the word of God which is more important”, he remarked.
Archbishop Angelo Becciu the Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, Vatican (Equivalent to the Interior Minister) was on a one day visit to Kuwait last week to inaugurate the new Vatican Chancery in Yarmouk.
Commenting on Holy Father’s new vision the Archbishop shared his message that it was not possible to establish true links with God, while ignoring other people. “Hence it was important to intensify dialogue among the various religions, and he was seeking particularly of dialogue with Islam.”
Archbishop Becciu hoped that the presence of many Christians in the region, as well as the efforts of the Apostolic Nunciature would contribute towards an authentic experience of dialogue and cooperation, in mutual respect and friendship. This would lead towards the desired goal of .peaceful coexistence that gives glory to God and establishes good will amongst all peoples, adding that we are called to respect the religion of the other, its teachings, its symbols, its values, He added.
During his visit to Kuwait Archbishop Becciu visited the Grand Mosque and Catholic Church in Kuwait City and thanked Kuwait for the warm reception he received. “It is nice to see the good dialogue and relationship between Christians and Muslims. As worshippers of God, we must do all the best to encourage peace”, he said.
He did note that larger facilities were needed to accommodate the increase in the number of Christians which is mostly made up of Kuwait’s expatriate population, “We need more churches to help the Christians to express their faith,” he pointed out
