Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday began an official visit to Jordan, at the invitation of the Jordanian Armed Forces' Joint Chief-of-Staff, Major General Mahmoud Abdle Halim Freihat.
General Aoun commenced his visit by meeting with First General Freihat and senior Jordanian army officers, on means of bolstering cooperation ties between the armies of both countries, notably in the areas of joint training, exchange of expertise and military techniques.
General Aoun thanked Freihat for the assistance provided by the Jordanian armed forces to the Lebanese army during the past years. He also extended an official invitation to General Freihta to visit Lebanon.
For his part, Freihat lauded the Lebanese army's role in combating terrorism, particularly in "Fajr Jouroud" operation, stressing continual brotherly cooperation to strengthen the capabilities of both countries' armies in the face of joint security challenges.
Army Commander culminated his visit by having audience with King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, at the Royal Palace in Amman, where they discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the broad region.
King Abdullah congratulated the army commander on the great achievement realized by the Lebanese army against terrorism in "Fajr Jouroud" operation, expressing his "absolute support for the army at the various levels.
