Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel cancelled his visit to China in the wake of Brussels terrorist attacks, the Asian country's foreign ministry announced Wednesday.
The cancellation was propelled by the heightened state of alert in the European country.
The Belgian prime minister was supposed to pay a visit to China on March 25 to take part in the Boao Forum for Asia.
"China understands reasons behind the decision," the foreign ministry spokeswoman said.
