Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Monday received Transport Minister Saad Geoshy to discuss security and safety procedures in various transport sectors.
Cabinet spokesman Hosam Qaweesh said the premier issued directives to activate security and safety procedures in all sectors and set compressed and bending timetables to complete current projects.
He added that Ismail ordered to improve services provided for the citizens and apply a quality system on all implemented services in order to rationalize expenses.
For his part, Geoshy reviewed the current condition of the railway sector and development plans, currently being implemented to develop the vital sector.
An integrated strategic plan was developed for the Transport Ministry in the short term (up to June 30 2016), medium term (until June 30 2018) and long term (until 2030) including all sectors of the ministry, Geoshy said.
An urgent plan was also developed to promote the local manufacturing of all components of the railway sector in coordination with the Military Production Ministry, he added.
Practical steps were taken to eliminate tickets on the black market and increase revenues by about EGP 200,000 per month, the minister said.
