Young Emirati inventor Ali Blaisha al-Muhairi
Dubai - Arab Today

Young Emirati inventor Ali Blaisha Al Muhairi was honoured on Thursday for his innovative ideas on sustainable energy by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
The nine-year-old inventor was presented with an appreciation certificate and an iPad.
Al Muhairi invented a small device that stores and uses solar power, by exposing it to direct sunlight to run household devices such as fans, lamps, radios and mobile phones. The device can store enough energy to run devices for up to half an hour.
"DEWA is proud of the next generation of innovators who love to express their creativity and who want to make a career in renewable energy. They represent Dubai's vision and the aspiration of His Highness Sheikh s bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the next generation of determined and distinctive Emiratis, who are educated in science and knowledgeable enough to continue the prosperity and success of the UAE,” said Al Tayer.
The young inventor successfully created his device called the ‘mobile power storage' under the supervision and guidance of his father, who accompanied him during shopping trips in Dubai to collect solar panels, a 12-Volt (DC) battery, power source, electrical sockets, and a wooden-panel base. Al Muhairi used a computer to help design the final shape for his device.
DEWA invited Ali Al Muhairi to visit the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and DEWA Sustainable Building. This is to give him the opportunity to learn about different sustainable energy technologies and highlight the importance of sustainable energy and the need for rationalisation in the consumption of electricity, water and natural resources.
