A European Union delegation headed by EU Deputy Head of Mission to the United Nations, Julia Koch, visited Thursday the Italian advanced base along the Lebanese borders in the South.
UNIFIL Sector West Commander General Francesco Ulla welcomed the delegation, briefing them on the history of the Blue Line.
During the visit, Commander Ulla met with group leaders at the Italian base, in presence of UNIFIL Civil Affairs Office representatives, with talks touching on gender issues in peacekeeping operations.
It is to note that the Italian base is led by a force of the Eighth Regiment of Lancheire de Monte Bello, whose mission is to monitor the Blue Line in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701
