International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nassr on Monday embarked on a visit to the United States to take part in the annual meetings of the World Bank (WB).

At the beginning of her visit, Nassr will hold meetings with senior UN officials in New York on Tuesday, to discuss the implementation of the sustainable development goals and UN support for the development projects in Egypt; particularly those help provide jobs for youths, the International Cooperation Ministry said in a statement.

Among those official are Sima Bahous, Assistant UN Secretary-General and Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Arab States at the UN Development Program (UNDP), Oh Joon, President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Wu Hongbo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs and Helen Clark, Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

On Wednesday, the minister will head for Washington to take part in the WB meetings, topped by those of a joint committee of the WB Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the Governors of the IMF to discuss progress achieved concerning the work of the two institutions.

Also, on Thursday, Nassr will be a speaker in a session on the creative solutions to face the current developmental challenges.

The minister said that she will hold meetings with a number of WB officials to discuss cooperation in the programs and projects that will be funded by the bank during the coming four years with 8 billion dollars

Nassr added that she will focus in her meetings on presenting the government's priorities during the coming period and the possible contributions of the financing institutions to support the development program.
