Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi left for Baghdad late on Sunday, leading an official delegation to take part in the UN General Assembly meetings.
Abadi will address the UNGA session and will hold talks with a number of world leaders on the ongoing war against Daesh.
He added that he received a request from the US administration to arrange a second meeting with US President Barack Obama.
He noted that no date has been yet set for a meeting between him and the two US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
