Members of the Italian Senate Commission for Foreign Affairs visited Lebanon from 15 to 18 December. UNDP received the delegation and the Italian Ambassador at UNDP venues, where Mr Philippe Lazzarini ex views on the country's current context. The President of the Commission highlighted the relevance of the support of Parliamentarian Diplomacy and the Italian Government to the Lebanon Host Communities Support Programme - LHSP.


This support includes partnerships with the Italian Regions (Emilia Romagna and Lazio), introducing innovative practices related to welfare management, and local economic promotion in the context of the protracted crisis. Mr Paolo Corsini (president of the Commission) highlighted that these practices represent the excellency of Italian policies at the territorial level.


The Senators were glad to recognize how developmental experiences can support the local and national Lebanese institutions in coping with the impact of the crisis. They aim to continue in this support
