King Abdullah II of Jordan and the Governor-General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove, held talks on Wednesday focusing on means to forge closer ties between the two countries in various fields, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
According to Petra, the Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah and Cosgrove highlighted the need to continue coordination and consultations between the two countries on various issues of common interest, with the aim of boosting bilateral ties and enhancing global peace and security.
The King said that both countries face threats and challenges, noting that the visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation, exchanges of views, and joint work with a holistic approach to counter terrorism.
The discussions also covered efforts to advance the peace process and re-launch effective negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve comprehensive peace in the region.
The King and the Governor-General also reviewed the ongoing crises in the Middle East and highlighted the need to intensify efforts to achieve political solutions, in addition to regional and international efforts to fight terrorism with a comprehensive approach.
