Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Saturday attended a meeting in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, which brought together HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar, and Sheikh Mohammad Al Khalid Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait.
The GCC top officials took stock of the latest developments in the region, notably the situation in Yemen, and voiced their concern over the evolving events and their dangerous repercussions and warned against Yemen's slide into a dark tunnel which may entail consequences that could be dangerous not only for Yemen but also for the security and stability in the region and the wider international peace and security.
The GCC officials also reiterated the stances of the GCC leaders which back the legitimacy in Yemen, represented by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, and Yemeni people, expressing their readiness to exert all efforts to support Yemen's security and stability as an integral part of the GCC's security.
They emphasised the need for a swift response to the call made by the Yemeni President to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh under the umbrella of the GCC that brings together the entire political spectrum in Yemen and supports of the country's security and stability so as to achieve the goals stated by President Hadi in his message he sent to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia.
Present at the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor, Deputy Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defence, Chief of the Royal Court and Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
