His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has congratulated the UAE National Team’s star Faisal Al Ketbi on winning a gold medal in the Under 94-kg category at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Bogota, Colombia.
This was during a telephone call that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed made on Saturday to Faisal, during which, he applauded his determination to win. He further expressed his confidence that the champions of the UAE are capable of flying the country's flag high in all international competitions.
"Our jiu-jitsu champions shine in all competitions. I follow with pride their achievements in this sport, which holds a lot of values," he added.
Al Ketbi said he was pleased with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed's call, adding that Emirati jiu-jitsu champions are fortunate to get his continuous support.
"His Highness Sheikh Mohamed’s continuous support and encouragement motivate us to defy all circumstances in order to win titles for the UAE. I consider his words to me today as a medal of much more value than the one I won," he said.
The medal won by Al Ketbi on Saturday is his second in the championship. Last year, he won a gold medal in the same category in Poland.
Al Ketbi dedicated his win to the UAE leadership and to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed, saying this achievement would motivate the team to excel in their upcoming championship, the ASIAD, in Jakarta.
He also thanked his trainer, Ramon, for his role in the win.
