In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued Decree No. (33) of 2017 appointing Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti as Secretary -General of the Dubai Executive Council.

The Decree is effective from its date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.

Abdulla Al Basti’s experience spans over 25 years of working in various government entities. Prior to his appointment as Secretary-General of the Executive Council, he worked as Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future.

Al Basti was previously the Director-General of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum where he contributed to the launch of a number of strategic initiatives. He also served as Executive Director of the Government Development Bureau in the Prime Minister’s Office and supervised the launch of the Emirates Government Services Programme. Al Basti is a member of the Board of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and a member of the Future of Government Council at the World Economic Forum.

Abdulla Al Basti holds a Masters in Total Quality Management from the University of Wollongong Dubai and Bachelor’s in information technology from the University of Dubai. He is also a graduate of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development.
