Ali Javed, the ambassador of Pakistan in Oman visited Buraimi recently to meet with members of the Pakistani community.
At the meeting last week, he spoke about bilateral relations, measures for improving quality, efficiency and transparency in consular services and outreach initiatives.
He also said 11,000 Pakistanis have joined the embassy’s WhatsApp Broadcast (+968 9198-0458) launched in January, and 10,000 had joined the mission’s e-mail cwaparepmuscat@gmail.com.
Javed added that Pakistan and Oman have enjoyed a century-old bond of affinity and kinship. He recalled the visit of Sartaj Aziz, adviser to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs to Muscat in September last year and praised the recent visit of Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of Sultanate of Oman to Islamabad.
He further spoke about Alawi’s engagements with the Pakistani leadership, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who has praised the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and appreciated Oman’s progress and thanked the Omani society for hosting Pakistani expats.
Javed arrived in the Sultanate as ambassador in June 2016 and by mid-August he had prioritised meetings with Pakistani communities in Buraimi, followed by Salalah where he participated in Independence Day celebrations on August 14. The total numbers of Pakistanis in Oman stood at 265,746, according to the National Centre for Statistics Information (NCSI) in Oman.
