Beirut - Arab Today

National Defense Minister Yacoub Al-Sarraf on Thursday visited the headquarters of the Spanish contingent operating within UNIFIL in the southern town of Marjeyoun, where he met with his Spanish Counterpart Maria Dolores De Cospedal.

Operations' Commander Fernando lopez Del pozo was also present.

Talks reportedly touched on the current situation in the South in light of the cooperation between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army, as well Israel's recurrent violations of the Lebanese sovereignty.

Minister Sarraf stressed "Lebanon's commitment to Resolution 1701" and highlighted "the existing cooperation between the Lebanese army and UNIFIL and means to strengthen this cooperation."

Minister Cospedal, for her part, hailed the existing cooperation between the army and UNIFIL, lauding "the efforts of the Lebanese army and its realized victory over terrorism."

Cospedal stressed her Country's support for the stability and security of Lebanon, heaping praise on the historical ties between Lebanon and Spain
