The Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa today conducted a tour of (Manama…city of joy) and the heritage carnival at Bab Al Bahrain area and Bab Al Bahrain mall located at the old souq that was opened last Monday. The festival comes on the sidelines of Bahrain hosting the Grand Prix and will last until April 30 daily from 4 pm to 9 pm. Shaikha Mai affirmed that the event focused on the old lifestyle through the old market and street ways that still carry the Bahraini spirit and reflect the natural trade and social practices. Meanwhile, this event includes various traditional crafts, musical band (Mohammed bin Faris), Spanish and Latin American corner and other fun-filled activities. The objective of the activities is to make visitors and tourist aware of all the traditional handicrafts and traditional Bahraini way of life. During her visit the Minister of Culture met with a number of visitors and was briefed on their interaction with the craftsmen and those in the other various kiosks showcasing a variety of traditional delicacies. She also stressed that the slogan for this event was (Manama… city of joy) and it is the same as (Manama.. Capital of Arab Culture 2012) in addition to it being (Manama.. Capital of Arab Tourism 2013) as it will remain so for two consecutive years and many years to come.
