H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, arrived at the Cairo International Airport on Saturday, for an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During the visit, Sheikh Sultan will participate at the International Youth Forum, which will be held at Sharm El- Sheikh. He will also visit a number of medical institutes, as well as cultural and educational centres.
On his arrival at the airport, Sheikh Sultan was received by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing of Egypt; Juma Mubarak Al-Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt; Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information; Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director of the Sharjah Department of Protocol and Guesthouses; Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Media Corporation; Shaaban Abdul Jawad, Director of the Central Department of Antiques in Egypt; Dr. Lutfi Hanafi, Deputy of the Egyptian Museum; a number of representatives of the Ministry of Antiquities and senior officials in the Egyptian Presidential Department.
Upon his arrival, Sheikh Sultan presented the Egyptians with 354 antiques that were seized and confiscated by the customs officers at the Sharjah International Airport. The valuable pieces date back to the Pharaonic period while some are from the Islamic era.
Abdullah Al Owais handed over the gifts to the Egyptian side. The Ruler of Sharjah was keen to deliver these antique pieces, under his personal supervision, to the Egyptian representatives of the Ministry of Antiques.
