Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will kick off a six-day working trip to the United States Saturday, during which he will meet political figures and business leaders in Washington D.C. and New York City.
According to a statement issued by The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Friday, Lee will have meetings in the White House and with several cabinet secretaries, as well as principal figures in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives while in Washington D. C.
He will also deliver a speech at a reception to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, and speak at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
When in New York, Lee will meet business and industry leaders, and launch Temasek Holdings' New York Office.
He will be accompanied by his wife Ho Ching, Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Charles Chong, Member of Parliament Dr Janil Puthucheary, as well as officials from the PMO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During Lee's absence, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting prime minister, the PMO said.
Lee's last visit to the United States was in April, 2013.
