President-Elect Donald Trump as picked South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to be the new United States Ambassador to the United Nations, the Trump transition team said Wednesday.
If the Senate confirms her nomination, she will become the first female official in the new Trump administration She met with Trump last week and said talks went very well. She initially backed two other Republican candidates before reluctantly accepting Trump as the nominee.
Haley, 44, is the youngest of the 50 governors in the U.S. She has no foreign policy experience however. The governor is the daughter of Sikh immigrants from the Punjab region of India.
