The Tunisian parliament adopted at a plenary session the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, Minister of Local Affairs and Environment, Riadh al Mouakher said.
Mouakher added, in statements, the agreement supports countries that are not responsible for global warming through technology transfer and financing projects in countries that are affected by the climate change.
The minister added that the agreement will enter into force once adopted by 55 percent of the world countries, pointing out that up to 80 States have ratified it until now.
The minister also said that his country's request to get 20 billion dollars to cope up with the climate change, does not mean that it will obtain these funds. He explained that this financing is granted according to specific programs of priority set by the international financiers.
He stressed the importance of the Tunisian Solar Plan (TSP) to depend on solar energy and benefit from Paris Agreement funding. He called for investing in renewable energy and said the nation is confronting several garbage-related problems.
