Cairo - Arab Today

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit named on Thursday Tunisia's Salah Eddin al Jamali as his special representative in Libya.

AL Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi made the remark at the end of the extraordinary meeting of the AL Council at the permanent delegates' level.

Abul Gheit said Jamali's appointment falls within the framework of implementing the decisions taken during the AL ministerial meeting held on September 8.

The decision is meant to enhance the pan-Arab organization's role in settling the Libyan crisis.
