Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang will make an official visit to Brunei from Aug. 26 to 28 to bolster bilateral business and investment ties, Nguyen Truong Giang, Vietnam's ambassador to Brunei, was quoted by a local daily as saying Sunday.
Tran's first visit to the sultanate will be aimed at promoting cooperation in many areas and he will host a business forum to forge connections between entrepreneurs of both countries, Nguyen Truong Giang said,
"The president's delegation will comprise a lot of business people and we want to create connections between the two business communities, particularly in oil and gas," he said.
According to the Brunei Times, the foreign ministers of Brunei and Vietnam met in Laos last month to discuss the conclusion of a bilateral investment agreement, as well as the convening of the Vietnam-Brunei Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation.
The two countries have already signed cooperation agreements in several areas, including education and training, agriculture and fisheries, business and finance, as well as oil and gas.
PTSC Mechanical and Construction Company, an arm of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, recently built a offshore platform for Brunei's Maharaja Lela South oilfield, which is operated by French energy firm Total E&P Borneo BV.
