Algiers - APS

"Urgent" and short-term measures should be taken in consultation with all stakeholders in health to address the problems of the sector, the president of the National College of Physicians Dr. Mohamed Berkani Bekkat told national radio Sunday."The government must take urgent and short-term measures in order to overcome the shortcomings that characterize the health sector in consultation will all stakeholders and through national conferences that involve all concerned government departments," said Dr. Mohamed Berkani Bekkat on channel III broadcast of national radio.Recalling an observation shared by all on the state of health in Algeria, including health professionals, the host of the national radio also proposed holding a council of government that would be devoted exclusively to the examination of deficiencies that impede providing quality health services to citizens in the presence of representative of other sectors (ministries of Interior, Higher education and scientific Research, labor and social security.)Bekkat Berkani referred, among other priorities to support, the review of health law and health map, rehabilitation of health facilities including proximity facilities, the repeal of the additional time and increase of health personnel with adequate training, the aim being " the restoration of trust between the citizen and health," he noted. In this regard, he said it was "imperative" to review the health law that dates back to 1985 and has become "too old", and that, taking into account technological developments that occur constantly, so that to have "a law that resists to time" that takes into account, among other issues, those relating to ethics.
