Ten persons have been infected with dengue fever in Aswan, including nine cases who were completely cured and discharged, and one case is currently receiving treatment, Undersecretary of Health Ministry in Aswan Ehab Hanafy said in a statement Saturday.
Preventive measures have been taken, and hospitals have been put on high alert, he added.
All cases are from other governorates, said the official.
This fever results from a weak virus called "dengue virus" that is transmitted by a mosquito known as "Aedes aegypti".
The life cycle of this virus in the human body lasts for a maximum of one week, resulting in weak non life threatening symptoms similar to the symptoms of flue (common cold) which might include a slight increase in temperature, headache, muscle aches, joint aches.
