On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa patronised the National Health Insurance Seminar, organised by the Supreme Council for Health in cooperation with the World Bank and the University of Bahrain.
The event, held at the Isa Cultural Centre, was also attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
The Deputy Premier stated that the seminar will provide a platform to understand the needs of the health sector and develop it, which will consolidate health care quality in the kingdom.
He added that the seminar, being a platform for practitioners to discuss and exchange successful experience and international expertise on health insurance, will enrich the kingdom's experience in this regard, and help improve health services.
He thanked the Minister of State for Defence Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH) Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and the SCH members for their efforts to boost the health sector in the kingdom, wishing the participants every success in achieving the goals of the seminar.
Then, Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa delivered a statement in which he asserted that the National Insurance Project enjoys the strong support and follow-up of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH the Crown Prince.
He added that the proposed plan to implement the project will be discussed thoroughly with the World Bank experts.
Then, Head of the World Bank team Dr. Feras bin Ra'ad bin Zaid welcomed the kingdom's invitation to discuss the alternatives for implementing the National Insurance Plan, noting that the health sector in Bahrain has made remarkable progress in terms of quality and services.
After that, Anis Barish staged a presentation on successful national health insurance systems, launched in cooperation with the World Bank.
