Ministry of Works (MoW), represented by the Organisational Culture Committee, hosted the ‘Protect Your Heart’ Campaign for the second year, which was organized by the Ministry of Health’s Chronic non-communicable diseases Committee; aiming to early detect such diseases at work places.
MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services and Head of the Organizational Culture Committee Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat explained that the Ministry is keen to hold such events as part of the partnership between the two ministries (Health and Works Ministries). He also commended the efforts extended by all the team from the MOH; officials, doctors and everyone involved in maintaining citizens’ welfare.
Al Khayyat said that MoW’s participation in the campaign aimed to enhance the preventive aspect and control public health, detect chronic non-communicable diseases at an early stage, enhance staff awareness about heart diseases and healthy eating habits to increase their productivity and limit absence.
According to Al Khayyat, 128 employees from various directorates at the Ministry participated in the campaign, which included measuring blood pressure, weight, height, BMI and glucose, in addition to measuring body waist, triglyceride and both types of cholesterol and consulting a doctor or health specialist present as part of the medical team. All services were provided for free and targeted a large number of employees, which indicate the rise in staff awareness of the importance of such aspects.
