The Health minister said Tuesday that a company in the Delta city of Mansoura was selling and distributing imitated Hep C drugs that had been smuggled from India into the country.
Adel Adawi said he personally checked a tip that the Health Ministry received about activities of the company.
A committee was formed to suspend the activities of the company and punish those responsible for it.
The committee visited the HQ of the company and seized leftovers and documents that prove the company has been in the business of distributing the smuggled drug.
It turned out that the company has been working without a license as well.
The firm did not deny it had imported the drug from India, said assistant health minister for pharmaceutical affairs Tareq Salman, adding this was a gross violation of law.
