The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently marked World Quality Day 2014 by felicitating DHA staff members and teams that introduced initiatives which helped raise the quality of healthcare services across the DHA.
World Quality Day is celebrated every year around the world on the second Thursday of November to increase worldwide awareness of the important contribution that quality makes towards both organisational and national growth, and prosperity.
For 2014, the theme is ‘Building a Quality World Together’ which focuses on the impact quality professionals make to an organisation.
Ahmed Al Nuseirat, Coordinator-General of Dubai Government's Excellence Programme graced the occasion and Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority thanked him for his presence.
Al Nuseirat said that DGEP program which began several years ago initially only had 3 categories and now it has over 15 categories and the aim of the program is to felicitate employees working towards achieving excellence in their field.
He added that such an annual event which recognizes employees who work towards enhancing the quality of health services is of vital importance.
Al Maidoor said the DHA has been working on setting systems, KPIs and measurables in the health sector so as to further enhance the overall functioning of the health sector. He added the raising the quality of healthcare services ensures a sustainable health sector and directly improves patient outcomes.
This year, DHA received not only JCI accreditations but other international accreditations specific to the various healthcare fields. Eg: The Dubai Health Authority–run Rashid Hospital’s stroke unit is the only unit outside the European Union (EU) that was awarded an international accreditation for the establishment and functioning of the unit following European protocols in the treatment and management of strokes.
Salah Al Marri, director of corporate excellence at the DHA, said highlighted the importance of continuously working towards further enhancing customer satisfaction and said that quality parameters are vital across all fields of the health sector – service as well as administrative.
Over the last few months, the Authority has announced several measures that are aimed to provide convenience and quality care to patients and their families.
After the ceremony, an exhibition was held to highlight key initiatives, processes and technologies that the DHA has incorporated to improve the quality of care.
The exhibition also displayed the various smart applications introduced by all DHA government departments. The apps can be downloaded from the DGEP website.
