The Dubai Hospital's Heart Centre celebrated the success of its free heart surgery initiative for children. The centre cooperated with an international medical surgery team from Italy's San Donato Milan Hospital where 230 surgical and open heart operations were conducted for children of various nationalities. Khalid Ahmad Al Shaikh Mubarak, Deputy Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, commended the efforts made by the medical team during the initiative. He also said during the celebrations held by the heart centre in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development and attended by 50 children who underwent the surgery, that the services extended by the initiative is a quality addition to the services extended by the Health Authority in general and the Dubai Hospital in particular. Article continues below He also said that the number of patients who have benefited from the initiative are constantly on the rise since its launch in October 2007. Al Shaikh Mubarak also said that the number of youth from one day old to 19 years old who have made use of the surgeries is more than 230. He also valued the role played by the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation in this initiative through backing and paying the expenses of all the surgeries.
