Health Minister Adel Adawi announced Tuesday that an Egyptian-made drug for hepatitis C virus is now in market at EGP 2,670.
The minister made the remarks during a press conference attended by the Saudi and Swiss ambassadors to Egypt along with members of the National Committee for the Control of Viral Hepatitis (NCCVH).
The Egyptian version of Sovaldi drug is provided as part of a complete course for hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment, the minister said.
He underscored efforts to cut down the prevalence rate of hepatitis C in Egypt as latest statistics showed about 7 million people got the infection.
About 150,000 citizens got infected with the HCV due to bad habits, the minister said.
