Dozens of small boxes of expired medicine were found Wednesday in a Sidon dumpster and in the southern city's landfill. About 100 small boxes containing a variety of expired medications were discovered by scavengers sifting through a trash container in a Sidon neighborhood. Separately, boxes of expired medicines were found in Sidon’s landfill. Members of the Internal Security Forces were called in and a probe was launched into the two incidents. Spoiled meat and other food products are being disposed of in dumpsters following a crackdown by Lebanese authorities on expired goods. Massive amounts of bad fish, meat and chicken as well as canned food and other products have been confiscated from warehouses or cold storage facilities across Lebanon over the past few weeks.
