Five tonnes of food and consumer goods were destroyed by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City in an attempt to protect consumers. The destroyed foodstuff did not match the UAE specifications and health standards. "The procedures for destroying these foodstuffs were taken in coordination with Abu Dhabi Centre for Waste Management at waste burial sites at Hameem in a safe and secure manner," said Khalifa Mohammad Al Rumaithi, Director of Public Health, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City. The destroyed items included health supplements, cosmetics, personal care items, sexual stimuli, cleaning materials and detergents, and non-medical herbs. Article continues below The Public Health Division at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is cracking down on salons and beauty parlours as well as cosmetics selling outlets. Unbranded items which lack products' labels and expiry dates were commonly found in various shops during the campaign.
