The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s Regional Conference for the Near East will discuss, in its 32 session to be held in the Italian capital of Rome, the food security situation in Yemen and the effects of the crisis on livelihoods.This came in a statement to Saba by the FAO Resident Representative in Yemen Salah Hajj Hassan. Hassan added that the conference would discuss the FAO strategy to reduce the food wastage at the level of North Africa and the Middle East ,the challenges in the agricultural sector ,raising the level of awareness about supporting interventions related to livelihoods and identifying funding requirements to address the problems of food shortages and helping the populations affected by the war as well as the role of the FAO in responding to crises.The FAO Resident Representative pointed to the importance of Yemen’s participation in the regional conference to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, especially that a number of donor countries and organizations will partake in the conference.
