Monsoons are always fun. But along with the fun, they bring in rampant fungal infections and water-bourne diseases like jaundice and diaorrhea. During the monsoon, it's our feet that bear the brunt of all the walking through the muck and mud. Invest in a good pair of rain-proof shoes. Wear closed shoes so that your feet stay dry and healthy this monsoon. Gum boots are the best bet. Keep a pair of sandals handy so that you can slip into them when you reach work. Monsoon hair care. Wrap a hot towel around your hair with the conditioner still in, to get the best results. When it comes to brushing your hair, brush them step wise. This helps in encouraging blood flow to your hair, which also helps in kicking out dandruff. In the end, make sure you are using the right kind of comb which helps in distributing oil all over your hair. This also helps in keeping them nourished and fresh all day long. Monsoon skin care. It is a must to apply sunscreen lotion every day in the monsoon. Choose SPF30 and above. Skin's become greasey? Use face scrubs at least once a day. Go for orange, raw milk or fruit based scrubs, which are great for anti-humidity skincare. Avoid heavy make up as it will clog your pores and cause pimples and rashes in this weather. Go for a cleanser which is not detergent-based as this will help wash away the humid grime without drying your skin and causing any roughness. Use ice packs on your face before sleeping at night as this will help in giving you the much needed chilling effect. Stay away from heavy, creamy makeup. If there's one monsoon makeup mantra you must follow, it should be to stay away from heavy, creamy makeup. You need to pick products that will stay on in humid weather. So, go for a good quality oil-free matte primer, and a light oil-free base. And choose only water-proof kohl & mascara, and water-resistant lipsticks. Avoid mosquito bites. Mosquito bites can be really deadly, as they are the first and the most obvious cause of malaria. Make sure there are no unscreened entry points in the room and the windows and doors are particularly closed at the time of twilight and at night. Protective clothing which includes long-sleeved shirts and pants is a must in order to protect yourself from the poisonous mosquito bite. Make use of insect repellents that contain good amounts of DEET in them. Using a mosquito net also decreases the risk of coming in contact with mosquitoes. Make sure that the net you are buying is smell-mashed with no holes in it.
