Kuwait called for helping developing countries on addressing efforts on climate change and the Ebola outbreak as they were the most affected by these threats, pledging Kuwait's total support of these efforts.
Speaking in a speech at the General Assembly meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah welcomed the environmental climate change summit that was held in New York two days ago.
He added that the negative impacts of climate change on development are felt globally, as well as regionally in the Arab world.
Kuwait shares the burden of this, and established the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in 1961 to offer easy loans and technical assistance to developing countries around the globe, as well as helping the needy in times of crises.
Kuwait has also increased its annual contributions to UN agencies and international organizations, including a recent USD five million donation to the World Health Organization (WHO) to address Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was the leader of these wide-range diplomatic efforts, noted His Highness the Prime Minister, citing the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a 'humanitarian leader' and Kuwait as a 'humanitarian centre'.
Kuwait, underlined His Highness the Prime Minister, is totally committed to the international multi-party order, and the principles and objectives of the UN.
