KRCS plans further aid for war-damaged Gaza
Kuwait - KUNA

Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is planning to dispatch further aid to residents of Gaza, where many houses and properties were demolished or badly damaged during the latest Israeli offensive on the enclave.
The Kuwaiti society will continue sending aid supplies to residents of Gaza, in line with keenness on backing the brotherly Palestinian people, experiencing a humanitarian tragedy and hard living conditions, said Anwar Al-Hasawi, the KRCS Deputy Chairman, in an exclusive interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), on Tuesday.
Al-Hasawi said the philanthropic association would dispatch, during the coming days, new convoys of relief supplies, indicating that some of the materials would be bought in Egypt and the rest would be sent from Kuwait by air.
The relief supplies will be distributed, in coordination of the Palestinian Red Crescent, in all regions of the strip. During the latest Israeli offensive on Gaza, Kuwait sent in by land 46 convoys laden with food and medical supplies, along with 40 tons of medical supplies, dispatched by air, Al-Hasawi said, however, he clarified that Kuwaiti had totally secured up to 200 tons of medicines and medical equipment for hospitals in the enclave, considering the high number of casualties.
On July 7, Israel launched a seven-week major offensive on Gaza at pretext of halting recurring missile attacks on Jewish towns and settlements and for demolishing a maze of underground smuggling tunnels around the strip.
Al-Hasawi, in the interview with KUNA, confirmed that up to 2,160 Palestinians died, 11,000 others were wounded, more than 17,000 houses were demolished and 40 others were damaged as a result of the Israeli attacks.
Till now, some 58,000 Gazans whose houses were destroyed during the fighting remained living in poor conditions at schools run by the UN agency, the UNRWA.
A team of the Kuwaiti relief society visited the strip, last week, and met with Governor Dr. Abdullah Al-Faranji, who voiced deep gratitude for the Kuwaiti aid. Also during the visit, Kuwaiti volunteers distributed a batch of assistance supplies to natives in need for support.
