Dr. Mohammed Sultan Al-Darwish, Prosthodontist and Dental Implantologist at Al Wakra Hospital, has been elected the Vice Chairman of Oral Health Group at the World Federation of Public Health Associations for 2015 to 2018.
He was announced after elections recently held at the Head Office of the World Federation of Public Health Associations. Dr. Al-Darwish obtained a PhD. in Dental Public Health from University of Gloucestershire, in the United Kingdom. He is the first Qatari to obtain this level of expertise in Dental and Oral Health with his thesis titled: "Dental Caries, Oral Health and Lifestyle Variables among Schoolchildren in Qatar".
The Public Health Associations was established in 1967. The Oral Health Group, headed by Professor Raman Bedi from the United Kingdom, began work in April 2012. The group focuses its work on all oral health-related and general health issues. The group aims to create an alliance for a "Cavity Free Future". In addition, the Oral Health Group is currently working on accrediting dentists to specialize in oral health at a global scale.
