Minister of Health Dr. Saad al-Nayef has underscored the necessity of bolstering cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) for confronting chemicals and gas-induced poisoning.
Minister al-Nayef was speaking during his meeting on Monday with the WHO representative in Syria Elizabeth Hoff and the technical support team.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized the WHO efforts in supporting the health sector in many areas, namely healthcare and the emergency system to respond to the effects of chemical weapons.
Minister al-Nayef said a national training program for emergency cadres has been put in place for dealing with patients who get exposed to chemical weapons and other toxic materials.
