Dubai - WAM

Ambassador of the UAE to Pakistan, Eisa Al Basha Al Nuaimi, has made an inspection visit to the Pakistani-Emirati Military hospital being built on directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of the UAE's assistance to Pakistan.

The 1000-bed Pakistani-Emirati Military Hospital is being built on an area of 115,000 sq m at a total cost of US$108 million (Dh398 million). When completed, the hospital can serve up to 6000 outpatients per day, or two million per year, with 50 surgeries to be performed per day at 16 operating theatres. It includes wards for emergency, orthopaedics, gynaecology, maternity, Internal medicine, dermatology, ENT, radiology, as well as a laboratory and a pharmacy.

Director of the UAE Pakistan Assistance Programme (UAE PAP), Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli, briefed Al Nuaimi on the phases of construction, wards, types of equipment and modern electronic systems used in the new hospital.

Since their experimental opening in mid-October 2014, the outpatient clinics of the hospital have served an average of 5000 people per day .

The ambassador also visited the buildings under construction as part of the second phase of the project.

Ambassador Al Nuaimi commended the directive of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide humanitarian and development aid for Pakistan through the UAE Pakistan Assistance Programme (UAE PAP).

The hospital, he said, is among the biggest and most important health projects in Pakistan.

Noting that the hospital is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment to provide quality services representing a quality addition to the Pakistan's healthcare system, the UAE ambassador said it is in fact an integrated medical city that can also provide training opportunities for top-performing medical students.
