Director-General of the World health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan extolled here on Tuesday the efforts of the State of Kuwait in support of the organization with annual voluntary contribution worth USD 500,000. Chan said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait's contributions are distinct and reflect the far-sighted vision of the political leadership of the country in dealing with health issues with an international dimension. The UN official expressed deep appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Council of Ministers, Parliament and the Kuwaiti people for their warm hospitality while hosting the international conference for donors to support the humanitarian situation in Syria for two consecutive years. She also drew attention to the provident vision of the State of Kuwait and its political leadership in connecting all UN organizations and also those working in the humanitarian field to deal with the painful Syrian crisis which has been continuing for three years, which also affects neighboring countries. At the same time, Chan praised the role played by the State of Kuwait in the encouragement of scientific research to serve different areas of health. For his part, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations and international organizations here, Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim told KUNA that this amount is part of the contributions of the State of Kuwait to the many organizations with a humanitarian nature, which is part of its foreign diplomacy to serve humanity.
