Glenn Hughes, the former bassist and vocalist for Deep Purple, will perform the hits of this legendary British band on stage at Moscow’s International House of Music on November 19 and 21, the press service of the Moscow Show company, reported on Monday.
Moscow Show is the promoter of the musician’s concerts in the Russian capital.
Glenn Hughes, who is also known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current front man for rock super group Black Country Communion, is now on his world tour titled "Glenn Hughes performs Classic Deep Purple Live."
"I can still sing the songs, in some ways even better than I did in the 70’s. I can still perform them with the same energy that was on the stage back then, too. I feel that the time is right. It’s fun to get back into character of my days with Purple. I’m looking back at my life and I want to remember the good stuff," the agency quotes the musician’s statement on his official website.
Together with Glenn Hughes on lead vocals and bass guitar, the touring band features Soren Anderson on guitar, Jesper Bo Hansen on keyboards, and new drummer for the project Fer Escobedo.
Deep Purple was founded in 1968 in Hartford and became one of the most prominent and influential of hard rock groups of the 1970s.
Hughes was with Deep Purple from 1973 until the band split in 1976. He sang and played bass on three albums: Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974) and Come Taste the Band (1975). Hughes was inducted in the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame together with other Deep Purple members. In the 1980s, as a bassist and vocalist, Hughes collaborated with artists and groups such as Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi, John Norum (ex-Europe) and others.
