Two Turkish soldiers were killed and 10 others were injured during violent clashes between the Turkish army and members of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PPK), south-eastern Turkey, Turkish military sources announced Monday. Turkish Ihlas News Agency reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Turkish Army said in a statement that the clashes broke out in the town of Semdinli in Hakkari Province, south-east of the country, noting that the wounded were immediately admitted to the military hospital in the province. The agency added that a large number of Turkish special forces arrived to the area in order to track down the members of the outlawed PKK in Turkey. Furthermore, the clashes came at a time of growing tensions between the Turkish armed forces and PKK members who have stepped up their attacks against the army in the recent months.
