A Lebanese Shia leader who disappeared 34 years ago 'could still be alive', according to his family. Parliament speaker Nabil Berri announced the news on Friday on the annual remembrance day for Imam Moussa al-Sadr, founder of the Amal Mouvement. He said to the crowd: "We are investigating every detail related to the case, our contacts have been expanded to Libya’s neighbors and we have received positive answers on the possibility of interrogating the detainees in order to unveil all circumstances and important developments in this case will happen on Saturday and Sunday.” It is believed that al-Sadr was abducted on Libyan officials' orders. Berri welcomed the Pope’s visit to Lebanon and said: “we live in an increasing state of anxiety related to conflicts that threaten neighbouring countries. We in Lebanon, with what we have been through, due to small and big wars we lived have the right to draw the attention of everyone to the fact that unity is the answer to sedition.” He carried on:“Pay attention that enemies of Islam are trying to drag us towards sedition and strife, and we call for the rejection of violence, imposing reforms and changing by force. We don't want to change things using force. I testify that we are Shiite by identity, Sunni by passion." He urged Arabs and Syrians to “stop the bloodshed and start the dialogue” and said “unfortunately I am not a heavy weight in the Arab world to find a solution to the Syrian issue."
